What Is Fortnite And Why Is Everyone Talking About It?
It seems as if you can’t go to any site online without seeing an ad or mention of ‘Fortnite’ these days. You might be asking yourself what on earth that is. Well, it’s a (very) popular video game that has taken over the gaming world in a flash this past year.
What Is It?
It began back in 2017 as a fun building game set in a postapocalyptic setting, building shelters to fend off zombies. However, while it was doing alright, it wasn’t doing amazing. That same year, another video game called ‘PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds’ (also known as ‘PUBG’) came out and became an instant hit. So, Fortnite was modified to become somewhat similar to PUBG. The purpose of PUBG was to be the last player standing in the game. It starts out with 100 players landing on an island. They have to scour for tools and weapons in order to defend themselves and beat the other players in the game. This form of the game is called ‘Battle Royale’. Fortnite followed in PUBG’s footsteps and created their own Battle Royal mode in the game while including their own original building features.
Rise To Fame
Since Fortnite developed the Battle Royale mode, it became an even bigger hit than PUBG. With all the fun costumes and different holiday packs, gamers couldn’t get enough of it. However, one question remains: how is it still so relevant almost two years later? Well, Fortnite has been up-to-date. They’ve created new seasons over time. Not to mention that the game is free both on PC and smartphones, making it easily accessible for everyone.
